Short, because we collect very little.

What Dropcast is

Dropcast is a web app and a Chrome extension made by Small Hours (an independent studio) that let you send audio overviews you generated in NotebookLM (also called Gemini Notebook) to a private podcast feed that you own. Dropcast and Small Hours are not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

What we store

  • The audio files you choose to send, so your podcast app can play them.
  • Metadata you send with them: the notebook title, the names of its sources, and an optional note. We use these to write a title and a short description for the episode.
  • A random feed identifier and random keys. We do not ask for a name, email or password to use the free plan.
  • Server logs with timestamps, status codes and error messages, kept for debugging.

What the extension does and does not do

The extension runs only on NotebookLM pages and on this site. It adds a button next to the audio player. When you click it, it reads the audio you generated, the notebook title and the source names, compresses the audio on your computer and uploads it to your feed. It does not run in the background, does not read other tabs, does not collect browsing history, and does not sell or share data.

AI show notes

To write show notes, the audio you upload is transcribed by Cloudflare Workers AI (Whisper), and the transcript, the notebook title, source names and your optional note are sent to Anthropic's Claude API under its commercial terms to write the episode title and description. We delete the transcript as soon as the notes are written, or when you delete the episode. If an episode cannot be transcribed, it keeps empty notes. You can edit or delete the result.

Payments

Paid plans are sold by Polar Software Inc. as merchant of record. Polar collects your email and payment details and sends receipts. We receive your email and a customer identifier so we can link the payment to your feed.

Who can hear your episodes

Anyone who has your feed link. The link is long and random, the feed asks directories not to list it, and search engines are told not to index it. Treat the link like a password. You can delete any episode at any time; deletion removes the file from storage.

Retention

Free feeds keep up to three episodes. Pro feeds keep the latest fifty; older episodes are deleted automatically. Feeds with no activity for twelve months may be deleted.

Where data lives

On Cloudflare infrastructure (storage and database) in the United States and other regions.

Contact

Use the Support tab on the Chrome Web Store listing, or reply to any receipt email from Polar, to ask for deletion of a feed or with any question.
